The ladies from the Atlanta Roller Girls are throwing an all-day scrimmage-a-thon in a couple of weeks, which will be culminating with a sanctioned WFTDA bout between Atlanta and Nashville. If you're within a reasonable distance, or you've got some frequent-flier miles burning a hole in your pocket, you could do a lot worse than showing up for the fun.
Scattered, Smothered and Southern takes place on November 8, with scrimmages starting at 10am and the Atlanta / Nashville bout scheduled to kick off at 7. Skater registration is $35, which includes placement in three scrimmages plus a ticket to the bout; they're also looking for volunteer refs and announcers.

It's cool that people are still doing open scrimmages
Though the logistics have to be a nightmare these days. Having to decide between WFTDA insurance and USARS, and with USARS' tricky new policies on scrimmages. This stuff used to be a lot easier, though I suppose had their been claims the USARS stuff could've been someone's major headache back then.

We insured our scrimmage
We insured our scrimmage using USARS and offered one day passes. Our WFTDA sister leagues where still happy to come participate even though they had to pay extra. The non-wftda leagues out number the wftda leagues right now in washington. Plus Slaughter County puts on great scrimmage events who wouldn't want to come. Last one was the Disco Inferno scrimmages. Ending the night with Kiss Army vs the BeeGees
